Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is characterized by anxiety and worry. Worries may range from getting to places on time, health-related concerns, the well-being of loved ones (e.g., fears of sudden accidents), to global events and natural disasters.
How do GAD worries differ from more ordinary worries? GAD worries are more often accompanied by intense physical sensation. They may contribute to sleep problems and interfere with daily activities.
If you have any questions about whether you might have GAD, give us a call. Because GAD tends to be a chronic difficulty that occurs across many different situations, treatment for GAD can last a bit longer than treatment for other anxiety disorders.
However, effective treatment is available. Contact us at the Portland Psychotherapy Anxiety Clinic to discuss treatment options.
