“Nothing I accept about myself can be used against me to diminish me.” – Audre Lorde

I am providing both telehealth and in-person services.

We sometimes come to therapy hoping to “fix” a part of ourselves we think is flawed or broken. Many of us are carrying the invisible weight of believing we are not enough. It might be a feeling of unworthiness that we’ve never been able to shake, worry that eats into our lives, or the imprint of trauma that has left scars. In our work together, you and I will focus on reframing the “fixing” into “listening”. When we listen to our pain, we can become less lost in it and learn to relate to it more generously, with less judgment and more acceptance. From this place I can support you to make incremental and consistent choices that will lead to meaningful change and growth in your life.

Science has proven that our minds and behavior can and do change. Research suggests this change happens through increased connection with ourselves and others, in finding meaning in struggle, and through our growing capacity to be generous, flexible and kind to ourselves. As someone who has conducted research on the science of behavior change and its neural correlates, I know change is possible for you, and for each of us! I practice through the evidence-based frameworks of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy, Mindful Self-Compassion, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), among others. I have experience working with adults challenged by self-criticism, shame, depression, anxiety, PTSD, combat trauma, complex trauma and gender identity exploration.

As someone with multiple majority identities, I have experienced much privilege in my life. I work to acknowledge how my privileges and biases may limit my growth and understanding. I engage clients in open and vulnerable conversations about these differences and how they may inform our therapeutic relationship. My professional and lived experience are grounded in a belief in mutuality and communal well-being and belonging. For therapy to be productive for you, we will work to create a space of belonging without judgment where you feel understood and seen. You are here because you are willing to learn and try to relate to yourself and your life in new ways. I look forward to the privilege of supporting you in witnessing your own potential and your capacity for growth and change.
